About Côte d’Ivoire

The prosperous country that is officially called the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire is a destination that excites, from its wildlife to its stunning flora and fauna. Spanning 322,463 square kilometers, Côte d’Ivoire is a former French colony; it gained independence in 1960. It borders the North Atlantic Ocean and is found between Liberia and Ghana. Amongst its top revenue-earning crops are cocoa, bananas, and palm oil.

Most of Côte d’Ivoire is a plateau. Its peaks reach upwards of 5,000 feet. The four main rivers that run through this splendid country are Bandama, Cavally, Sassandra, and Comoe.
